Lit Comps is in private beta. This policy is a plain-language starting point and should be reviewed by a lawyer before a public launch.
What we collect
- Your email address — to send login links and, if you request it, beta access.
- Your shelf data — books you save, whether you've marked them purchased or read, and any reflections you write.
- Feedback — anything you send through the feedback or access-request forms.
- Basic technical data — standard server logs (such as request times) needed to run and secure the site.
We do not ask for or store passwords, and we do not collect payment information during the free beta.
How we use it
We use your information only to operate Lit Comps: to log you in, save your shelf, respond to feedback, and improve the service. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Third parties
- Email delivery — login and notification emails are sent through our email provider.
- Hosting — the site and your data are hosted on our cloud infrastructure provider.
- Book links — purchase links go to Bookshop.org. If you click through and buy, Bookshop.org handles that transaction under its own privacy policy, and we may earn an affiliate commission.
- Book data — metadata and cover images come from third-party catalog sources.
Cookies
We use a single essential cookie to keep you logged in during your session. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
Data retention and your choices
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. You can ask us to delete your account and associated data at any time — use the feedback form and we'll take care of it.
